The Rutland County Humane Society (RCHS) is looking for a energetic, hard-working, detail oriented individual to join our team as an Adoption Counselor. We are looking for someone who has customer care experience, good oral and written communication skills, computer proficiency, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, effectively prioritize tasks and work as a team player. Veterinary, farm, or sheltering experience is a plus. The position includes, but is not limited to:Greeting and working with potential adopters, donors, and volunteers in our Adoption Center.Working with the public for animals needing to be surrendered or found as straysCompleting and publishing write ups for animalsScheduling appointments Answering emails and phone callsComfortably handling dog to dog meets with potential adoptersWillingness to handle cats and small animals such as hamsters, Guinea Pigs, and Rabbits Spot cleaning the Adoption Center and public areas as neededWe expect our staff to treat all animals humanely, properly, and with compassion at all times. Working in the animal welfare world can be stressful for both us, and those we serve. Emotions can run high when working in tense situations and handling them appropriately is important for the wellbeing of our staff and who we serve. Candidates must be 18 years old or older and have reliable transportation. The position is part time, 9:30 - 4:00 5 days a week (Tuesday through Saturday) with full-time opportunity and may include holidays. Joining the RCHS team will require cross training in both Animal Care and Animal Intakes once comfortably settled into the Adoption Counselor position.
