The caregiver will also support him with daily living activities through hands-on assistance, supervision or cueing. I would like for him to learn how to care for himself. About our brother Things he enjoys: Music and dancing (took piano lessons and knows all of the lyrics to most NSYNC songs)Playing games (Uno, Jenga, matching, etc.)Helping with cooking and especially loves sharing the food he and his caregiver cooked togetherHelping around the house and doing chores, especially anything that he can see the results of his work!Movies & TV - some of his favorites are Full House, Tarzan, Bollywood moviesTalking to people and practicing better conversational skills, such as listening, asking different kinds of questions, etc. Conditions:AutisticIntellectual disability (32 years old, but has the intellectual capacity of a 4 year old)Fully mobileSpeaks in words, phrases, and some sentencesSeizures (only when asleep and very rare now)Job responsibilities Help with daily caretaking: eating, grooming, dressing, bathing (note: bathing not required for evening shifts) Services to help the individual learn how to care for themselvesAssist with behavioral, speech, and physical therapy exercisesDo necessary light housekeeping to maintain a sanitary and safe environment & teach him housekeepingProvide emotional supportInform parent about uncommon eventsAssist with teaching appropriate behaviorsAct quickly and responsibly in cases of emergencyKeep him safe and respect privacy and confidential informationIf youre a patient, compassionate, and positive person who gets meaning from helping another person grow and learn, then this is a job for you. We expect you to be reliable/dependable, on-time, polite and a good communicator. Experience in housekeeping tasks and caring for individuals with disabilities will make you a strong candidate. You must be 18 years old.
