Job Summary:A Registered Behavior Technician provides behavioral intervention services to children with special needs and support to their families. Behavior Technicians are responsible for implementing Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) based programs under the supervision of one, or more, Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA, BCBA-DTM)Minimum Training and Experience: Completion of an Associates degree or higher (or working toward completion) in Applied Behavior Analysis, Education, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, or a related field. Formal work experience with pre-school age children Must meet all requirements by the BACB for Registered Behavior Technician Task List as well as obtain RBT credentials and maintain credentials while employed by Metro West Learning Center, LLC. (Candidates who are not RBTs must fulfill this requirement once hired) Metro West provides the training for this credential.All staff assigned to this classification must obtain national certification within 45 days of employment, and such certification must be maintained throughout employment in this classification at MWLC.Nature of Work:RBTs are responsible for implementing the interventions developed by their applied behavior analyst supervisor.The RBT provides behavioral interventions in clinic, home, community, and school settings and use ABA interventions to teach communication, social, and daily living skills and reduce problematic behaviors. Although RBTs complete a course of training, RBTs receive a considerable amount of on-the-job training from their supervisor in the following areas:Data collection proceduresImplementation of skill acquisition and behavior reduction interventionsPrinciples and procedures of behavior analysisRBTs/Behavior Techs must have excellent time management skills and must be able to manage multiple tasks at one time. They must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients, supervisors, peers, and community members.RBTs must use sound judgment and seek appropriate consultation from their supervisor to ensure treatment is provided without disruption to the client, to others, and to the environment.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities of the Registered Behavior TechnicianTM Provide direct client care in one-on-one and group settingsFollow behavior reduction and behavioral skill acquisition protocolsCollect and record data based on client behaviorCommunicate with clients, parents, and caregivers regarding client progressAssist BCBAs with behavior reduction assessments and skills acquisitionAssist BCBAs in the preparation of client materialsProvide direct services to clients based on current Functional Behavior Assessments, Behavior Intervention Plans, and Skill Acquisition Plans. Carry out Behavior Intervention Plans, and Skill Acquisition Plans that are determined by the supervising BCBA. Maintain confidentiality with all client records and information.
