Colorado Caregivers & Companions
Hello! I am looking to hire a few CNAs for my small, family business. We provide in-home CNA and companionship care and currently have two clients, one (female) who lives in Greenwood Village and the other (male) whos located in Ken Caryl. Both of them live with spouses, but have different levels of care. Susan, is an amputee who we provide a lot of companionship to. She has been a 24 hour client for several years and relies on her caregivers for everything. We provide showers weekly, meals, appointment transportation, companionship, medication pickup, and light housekeeping. She also sees a physical therapist who comes to her house. Susan is not shy, and on the contrary has a strong personality. She loves to engage in conversation and has a crude sense of humor which may be off putting to some people. She tends to like someone who has a similar personality and has more friend attributes than caregiver attributes. She wants to feel like the person who is staying with her and providing her with companionship is someone who doesnt take things so seriously, joke around with and she can be herself around. She spends most of her days in bed, watching tv and entertaining herself with magazines and visits from her kids/grandkids. We have her shifts split between 8:00am-5:00pm and 5:00pm-8:00amConsidering our clients are contracted, we are looking for someone who is wanting a long term job. One thing we emphasize is relationships that we build with our clients. We are a small business, but do everything we can to make our CNAs happy. We work well around personal schedules, other jobs, kids, school, etc. We also offer 90 day reviews with the chance of a raise, and financial aide in schooling to get your CNA. John, is our client who lives in Ken Caryl. He lives with his wife and is a retired successful lawyer. He is quiet, but loves to have conversations about his past, and his hobbies. (Shooting guns, hunting, motorcycles, etc) John unfortunately was diagnosed with dementia recently and him and his wife are learning how to live with this new diagnosis. He is in early stages, with short memory loss, and has recently not been driving because of it. He has no hesitation to let his caregivers drive him around to the gym, physical therapy, and appointments. His wife is very busy with trying to keep up on household tasks that John can no longer do, so she appreciates us being there to entertain him and keep him busy during the day so she can get things done and also not worry about him when she goes out of town or is out for the day with friends. John has been very accepting of his dementia and is even actively trying to reduce the side effects by eating healthier and exercising. He would love a companion to go to the gym with, and converse with. He even starting working on puzzles and mind games which he finds entertaining. His hours range from 9am-3pm currently Tuesday, Wednesdays and Saturdays. That might increase as his dementia progresses.
