Feline Care Manager Job descriptionOverview: Interested in working with cats? We are seeking a dedicated Feline Care Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals and possess a range of skills related to feline and pet care, customer service, and animal handling. It is most important to us that you have a passion for helping the homeless animals of Port St. Lucie. Job Type: FULL TIMEPay: Based on experience Schedule: Day Shift - May be required to work weekends Responsibilities:The Feline Care Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the feline department and care of the animals under their supervision. The Feline Care Manager trains, supervises, plans, and coordinates a variety of service functions that include managing the daily operations of the feline department. Provide a strong leadership and supervision to the Feline Care Technicians. Providing guidance and direction to the team she/he oversees, including setting performance standards, monitoring performance, and conducting timely performance evaluations. Mediate interpersonal problems and address concerns from Feline Care Technicians. Create employee schedules and coordinate time off to accurately staff the feline department based on census including busier holidays and weekends. Oversee the cats (and sometimes other animals) kept in your department to ensure that they are cared for properly. When the need arises, educating the public on topics such as pet overpopulation and on responsible pet ownership. Perform and supervise admissions and discharges of cats. Coordinating a schedule for cats arriving and departing your department. Develop and implement policies and procedures for animal care as needed. Maintain accurate records of medical, medications, animal intakes, adoptions, and transfers. Be a part of the Disaster Management team to evacuate all animals if an emergency occurs. May be assigned to work out of shelter for special events as needed. This will be assigned at least one week prior to the scheduled event. Provide enrichment for felines including but not limited to music, scratching posts, toys, blankets with varying textures, and more. Take initiative to research and implement new forms of enrichment. Assist in growing and monitoring our adoption program. Assist potential adopters in all stages of adoption from selection and introduction to the final contract. Qualifications:Must be over 18 years old Previous kennel or animal care experience is required.Supervisory or managerial experience is required. Must be able to work with other staff, volunteers, the management team, and the public in a positive professional manner and be able to work with minimal supervision. Must have excellent communication skills including in person, phone, email, and texting. Experience with all testing, vaccinations, microchipping, deworming, and giving medications to cats/kittens as needed. Must be familiar with and supportive of the goals and mission of the organization. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with animals while providing essential care services.
