Job descriptionAbout usHere at Medlift we provide non-emergency transportation to and from medical facilities, private residences, nursing homes, retirement centers, clinics, dentists, pharmacists, and more. Our personnel is trained in the operation of wheelchairs & ambulatory vehicles. Medlift is specifically seeking candidates who are available in Waco area. Operation Hours: Monday through Friday from 4:00 am to 7:00 pm and for Saturday 4:00 am to 6:00 pm. You will be assigned to a shift within this scheduleJob Summary:The Medlift Fleet Driver will operate a Medi-van equipped to provide nonemergency transport of mobility- impaired individuals by accommodating wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers and offering safe custom transportation to medical appointments and treatments.Duties/Responsibilities:Picks up patients at home or other facility. Provides the assistance required to safely board patients and caregivers.Ensure wheelchairs and passengers are properly secured before starting van. Depending on route, may pick up several patients for a common destination.On arrival at medical facility, assists patients in exiting the van and reaching the proper offices or treatment areas.Checks the van to ensure that no personal items are left behind.Provides first-aid or CPR if required during patient transport. Immediately notifies emergency staff and dispatcher if skilled assistance is required.Completes reports at the end of a shift.Immediately reports traffic accidents to dispatcher, requesting police or ambulance service as needed. Assists injured persons from first-aid kit until these services arrive. Completes company accident reports.Required Skills/Abilities:Possession of the patience and tact necessary for contacts with patients, both adult and children, and their caregivers.Must be reliable and capable of working independently and remaining calm in case of emergency.All Applicants shall meet all of the below driver eligibility requirements:1. A minimum age of twenty-five (25) years.2. Possession of a valid driver's license issued by your state of residence for the type of vehicle to be operated, issued by the resident state of the driver.3. No record of a felony; and no Misdemeanors in the past 7 years.4. No record of conviction for more than two (2) motor vehicle moving violations or more than one (1) MVR (motor vehicle record) major violation or more than one (1) at fault traffic in the sixty (60) consecutive months prior to the date of engagement.5. Completion of a suitable contractor/driver information sheet.6. Must have a regular cell phone plan with a major carrier or proof of 6 consecutive timely payments if using a pre-paid phone.7. Willing to do all online training and testing prior to employment with Medlift, LLC.Education and Experience:Must hold a currently valid driver's license and have an excellent driving record.High school diploma or equivalent and fluency in English required. Depending on assigned area, knowledge of Spanish would be helpful.Satisfactory completion of a company training program in passenger assistance techniquesSatisfactory completion of CPR, first-aid, and seizure training provided by a local emergency medical training facility or a certificate indicating prior successful completion of such training.Physical Requirements:Ability to lift, push, pull, and position patients frequently.Ability to perform considerable reaching, stooping, and bending.Hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to drive safely and to observe and communicate with patients.Regular exposure to injuries and illness.Frequent need to handle emergency or crisis situations.Exposure to a variety of weather conditions.Occasional exposure to the risk of bloodborne diseases.On-Boarding Process:1. Submit an application.2. If chosen, you will be called for an interview. It will usually last 20 minutes.3. Pass a Drug Screen; once cleared a background check will be performed.4. If all clear you will receive an email (sent to the address you provided in the form below) that will welcome you to an online training course.5. Take the courses and submit certificates to administration6. Attend in-person wheel chair training and Medlift Orientation7.
