Job descriptionFast-paced and team-focused!Watson Sign and Monument Company is seeking a Monument Shop Assistant to join our team! The Monument Shop Assistant will be responsible for assisting with monument shop functions such as cleaning and maintenance and delivering and installing monuments. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, enthusiastic, and dependable.Job Responsibilities (not limited to):Handle and transport granite using a forklift, setting trailer, and or dollyMix and pour concrete/mortarInstall stencil on granite monuments before blastingHelp with hand polish, sandblasting of monumentsDig trench for foundation using hand toolsAid in the installation of monuments in local cemeteriesGeneral cleaning and maintenance of shop and company vehiclesMaintain regular attendance and punctuality according to the assigned scheduleOther duties as needed or requiredResponsible for the daily shop operationsAssist with the fabrication/production of granite Memorials in our shopMaintenance of machinery and small equipment in the shop and the fieldInstall grave markers, bronze memorials, crypt faces, etc.Maintains and repairs existing markers when requiredAble to maintain and keep the shop floor clean and tidyMaintains, services, cleans, and properly stores equipment.Able to Unloading and loading of heavy stones with the assistance of machines/cranesObserve safety rules and ensure compliance with the operating procedures of the CompanyJob Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum of one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experienceAbility to operate work-related machinery, including setting trailer and hand toolsAble to work in various weather conditions eight or more hours per dayAbility to lift at least 80 lbs.Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurableMust be reliable, professional, and be able to follow instructionsMinimum six months of relevant experienceNo work experience candidates will be consideredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must be able to use a moderate amount of judgment required to perform the assigned taskAble to follow written and verbal instructionsAble to work constructively with little supervisionAble to learn and retain the operation of all equipment in the shopDependable/reliableAbility to operate hand-held tools and equipment, including, but not limited to, a shovel, pick, rake, sledgehammer, and other such small gear in the shop and during installations at the cemeteriesAbility to accurately use measuring devices (i.e., tape measure, yardstick, etc.)Ability to walk and stand for long periodsAbility to lift small stones by hand and is not afraid of heavy liftingAbility to lift heavy stones with equipment and crane assistanceAbility to push and pull up to 300 lbs.Believes in working together as a team and doing what needs to be doneAbility to communicate effectively with associates, contractor personnel, and others.Ability to work in extreme weather conditionsAbility to adapt to changing work schedules and multi-taskingAbility to start work in the early hoursMUST HAVES:A valid driver's license with a good driving record.Reliable transportation.License/Certification:US Drivers License (Required)Work Location: In person$10 -13 an hour
