The client is a philanthropic investment organization with a mission to increase the number of bankable, climate-related projects and businesses in emerging markets and developing economies to create significant environmental, economic, and social impact. Their initial focus regions are Southeast Asia, the Caribbean and Central America, Africa, and India.
On behalf of the World Bank Private Sector Investment Lab (PSIL), the client is seeking an Analytical Team to size equity financing needs in EMDEs aligned with various climate scenarios, analyzing break down of these needs by key regions and sectors, creating a prioritization framework for flow of investments and publishing a research paper with findings for the investment and policy ecosystem. The team lead will manage stakeholder engagement including Allied Climate Partners (ACP), GFANZ, CPI and Three Cairns Group.
Role and Responsibilities
Role: Quantitative Analyst Direct Report: Project Engagement Manger Candidates required: 1 Deliverables:
Estimation of how much equity finance is needed (in addition to current flows) to support the transition in EMDEs under different transition scenarios – and the sectors, regions and priority countries where this equity can be most catalytic
Build from the initial estimate being developed by CPI to provide a more granular, quantitative baseline and needs estimate of equity for climate in EMDEs.
Disaggregate the analysis by key regions/ countries, sectors/technology areas and investment types and sources.
Illustrate how catalytic equity and blended finance mechanisms can provide higher levels of capital mobilisation; estimate the volumes required to close the gap
Assess the potential to build and publish a digital tool and dataset on EMDE equity finance needs and mobilisation potential
Requirements
Experience required
4-6+ years of deep quantitative analysis with preference for exposure to scenario modeling in climate / energy transition environments.
Proven experience in driving a project to deliverable in complex stakeholder environment
Strong understanding of EMDE Climate Equity landscape including MDBs, DFIs, private sector investors, philanthropic organizations
Technical requirements
Strong quantitative analysis skills; proficiency in data analysis/modeling tools
Understanding or exposure to scenario modeling Exceptional problem-solving ability, logical reasoning, creative thinking
Soft skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex concepts clearly
A strong bias to action and ability to manage time effectively to ensure responsibilities are completed efficiently and all deadlines are met
