Averna is now a multinational organization spanning 11 countries, with over 1,100 employees and countless successes and awards.Job DescriptionIn order to properly account for our operations occurring on an international scope and the value that results from it, we are looking for an experienced Senior Advisor, Global Tax who will be responsible for taxes aspects and processes of the Group. Reporting to the Manager, Global Tax and Compliance, they will be responsible for evaluating and managing the global tax exposures and compliance needs of the Group.

Your Contribution in This Role:Evaluate and make recommendations on the tax aspects of treasury initiatives, including repatriation, intercompany loans and other cash management projects;Review and update transfer pricing policies and documentation based on business developments and coordinate monthly process;Continuously identify and implement new opportunities to lower tax costs for the Group, including evaluating the structure of the Group;Advise the global pre-sales and invoicing departments on the impact of sales tax and withholding tax on the structure of new contracts;Maintain and review the documentation of the Group’s tax positions relating to sales tax, corporate tax and R&D Investment credits;Coordinate the preparation of the R&D Credit documentation with the external consultants and the engineering department;Review and implement improvements to the Group’s tax internal processes;Update internal documentation and provide training to the relevant teams when there is a change in tax law;Coordinate the tax aspects of M&A transactions;Prepare and coordinate tax compliance reporting in Canada & USA for sales tax, corporate tax and R&D Credit and prepare support documentation for external tax consultants;Prepare the tax information for the annual consolidated financial statements;Coordinate and review the monthly consolidated global tax provision;Maintain and update documentation for tax attributes including share basis/adjusted cost base, surplus calculations for foreign affiliates, earnings & profits calculations where applicableRespond to tax authorities on audits as they ariseOversee estimated tax payments/instalments in the US and Canada and coordinate global cash tax forecast. QualificationsThe ideal candidate in a few words:Professional accounting designation (CPA) or law degree in either the US or Canada; Masters in Taxation and/or completion of CPA Canada In-Depth would be an asset;At least 8 years of corporate tax experience in a multinational & multicurrency company;Must have experience with one or more of the following international areas:US outbound taxationCanadian outbound taxationTransfer pricingDemonstrated ability in adapting to foreign statutory and governmental requirements;Previous experience managing tight deadlines;Strong at multitasking, such as non-routine projects;Proficient with tax research;Experience in a fast-paced environment;Efficient at problem solving;Autonomous and hands-on;Previous experience with process and controls, compliance and audit;Fluent in English.
