Job descriptionWe currently have a coaching position available: Assistant Coach for our all-girls Varsity Soccer Team. We are part of the Catholic High School Athletic Association. We have a lot of girls interested in the sport and with lots of potential. So, not only is it important for us to look for someone who knows the sport well enough to coach it, but also someone responsible, dedicated, and committed. We are also looking for someone who:enjoys working with accomplished athletes and those with little or no soccer experience.is committed to nurturing athletes in a supportive environment that supports goal setting, perseverance, and a love for the sport.ResponsibilitiesAssist in coaching and instructing athletes, both individually and in groups, using appropriate soccer developmental instruction.Assist in using various instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve student-athletes abilities in the sport assigned.Assist the Directors of Athletics and other coaches with organizing and supervising athletes in connection with practices and games and any other school function and/or activities involving their sports team.Assist in managing and supervising athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.Assist in leading and/or assisting practices.Accompany, attend, and supervise student-athletes during athletic competitions.Attend meetings that are related to their sport.Assist in applying for field permits for practices, league games, non-league games, and scrimmages.Take all necessary precautions to protect student-athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.Develop and sustain positive relationships with athletes, families, and guests of St. Vincent Ferrer High School.Supporting the safety of all members, guests, and employees.Encourage, by example and instruction, sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.QualificationsTwo or more years of coaching experience with demonstrated leadership ability are required for coaches, and at least one year of experience is required for assistant coaches.Collegiate playing experience is a plus.General knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures.Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.Knowledge of Girls' Soccer rules.Strong work ethic and organizational skills.Great communication skills.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Strong problem-solving skills.Background check required.Knowledgeable of safety training, procedures, and best practices used throughout the sports and wellness industry.Additional Information:The Soccer Season begins around the second to last week of August and ends roughly around the end of October or the beginning of November.
