Special Education TeacherSan Francisco, CAFT M-F 8am-4:30pmSalary: $64k-$79kSign On Bonus: $5kPosition SummaryIn collaboration with the Academic team of the assigned milieu, teaches designated subjects by planning and implementing lesson plans to meet children's IEP goals and address academic plans.Essential Functions Teach designated subjects and students within milieu by planning and implementinglesson plans in order to meet children's IEP goals and address academic standards Mentor and guide paraprofessional staff in order to ensure they are carrying out theeducational program as prescribed Carry out all teacher IEP requirements for assigned caseload Collaborate with multi-disciplinary milieu team in order to improve the program'seducational services and contribute toward smooth interdisciplinary functioning of themilieu Ensure necessary communication across campus and with parents/caregivers regarding educational issues and progress Develop creative strategies to meet the educational needs of kids who are hard to teach (e.g. unmotivated; low skill level; disruptive behaviors; etc.) Organize the teaching plan for students with a wide range of academic and cognitive skills Follow Agency policies and procedures regarding: Attendance and reliability (schedules time off appropriately, is on time, attends training) and Accurately completing all documentation in a timely fashion (IEP documentation, SIR's, etc.) Follows all emergency protocol (medical, runaway, disaster, CPS, and administrativenotification) Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams in the development of treatment plans for assigned children Perform assigned duties in accordance with our organization treatment philosophy and Mission Statement Provide guidance and direction to all relief staff, interns, and volunteers Provide safe, effective, efficient, culturally competent and consumer centeredimplementation of direct care in accordance with established policies, procedures andstandards of careRequirements Successfully passed CBEST, CSET, and RICA Exams Bachelors Degree Special Educational Teaching Credential (or enrollment in a CA certified programmeeting qualifications for a provisional internship credential) Minimum of 1 year experience working with students who have severe behavioral and learning difficulties or working as in Intern Teacher Must know physical assault response procedures Must understand educational standards and have a strong repertoire of effectiveeducational strategies Must be very familiar with learning disabilities and their impact on behavior, and be able to help others understand these issues Must have strong classroom management and leadership knowledge Strong Communication and Collaboration Skills Strong Organizational and Planning Skills Strong Public Speaking and Presentation Skills Strong Teaching Skills Ability to develop, cultivate an understanding of and adapt to the diverse backgrounds of our clients*Please note- the language differential is contingent on passing a language proficiency test*Must provide proof of vaccinationHere are some of the benefits to working with our organization16 days of PTO the first year and more thereafter, 9 paid holidays, 5 health and wellness days off annually, 10% additional pay for community-relevant second language fluency, Medical/Dental/and Vision plans, 403 B Retirement Plan with agency match, Employee Assistance Program, Commuter Benefits Program, Medical and Childcare Flexible Spending Accounts, Pet Insurance, Identity Theft Protection Plan, Paid employee referral program, Flexible work schedules, Career advancement opportunities, Retention bonuses for many positions, Continuing Education expense reimbursement, Professional licensing fee reimbursement, Professional Development reimbursement opportunities, Verified Public Service Loan Forgiveness Employer
