What you will be doing:In this role you will be responsible for providing a clear direction, leadership, and mentorship to a cross-functional squad of frontend, backend, and mobile developers, with a total of six direct reports and other attached functions, like QA engineers or UI/UX designers. Your mains tasks include:
Provide regular feedback, coaching, and support to enhance your team's performance while promoting a positive team culture and cohesion within the squad through team-building activities, recognition programs, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Foster collaboration and communication among team members, as well as with other departments or stakeholders, promoting a positive and respectful work environment
Acting as a primary point of contact providing updates on project status, addressing concerns, and managing expectations to ensure alignment with business goals.
Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of projects within the squad, ensuring alignment with business objectives and deadlines. Identify potential risks or obstacles to project success and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the squad, including process optimization, skills development, and adoption of new technologies or methodologies by staying up to date with industry trends.
Encourage knowledge sharing and cross-training within the squad, fostering a culture of learning and development to enhance overall team capabilities.

What your first six months with Sherpany will look like:
Milestones for the 1st month
Build initial rapport with the squad, individually, within the triad (internal leadership group, composed of the Squad Lead, Product Manager and UX Designer) and as a group;
Have an overall understanding of the product and the technology
Understand the organizational structure and know how to operate both within the Product Department and across departments.
Be familiar with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and comfortable to navigate it with the team
Formally take over the squad
Milestones from 1st-3rd month
Comfortably lead the squad, exchanging feedback with them/triad/your leader; navigate successfully the first Happiness & Success Meetings (internal codename for performance management).
Triad collaboration is solid and you can rely on each-other to drive initiatives forward
Have deep product and technical knowledge of the features owned by your squad
You are integrated within the Quarterly OKR cycle and have clarity on the Product targets
Milestones from 3rd-6th month:
You master leading your team, providing clear direction, leadership, and mentorship towards consistently meeting objectives; team leadership feedback is positive
You master product and technical knowledge, being able to discuss complex topics regarding the features or projects owned by your squad, with minimal squad support.
You are a key driver and reference point for the squad OKRs, orchestrating all parties (cross-squad and/or cross-department) to ensure the completion within set deadlines and exemplary quality and security levels of all squad related initiatives.
You operate comfortably within the Sherpany culture, from the highly-async Slack collaboration to incorporating meeting excellence and you are universally appreciated amongst your peers for living the Sherpany values.
