We are looking for a Tax Manager to add to our Finance team to oversee the tax, treasury and accounts payable functions. We are looking for a candidate that can build new processes, is motivated by constant process improvement opportunities, and can work well cross-functionally. This role reports to the Director of Accounting.
Essential Responsibilities
Tax Compliance
Direct the completion of Federal and State tax reporting requirements
Manage all tax compliance matters, engaging third party service providers as needed, for both domestic and international tax requirements
Preparation and review of supporting calculation work papers for federal and state income tax returns
Monitor tax law changes and determining impact to company
Driving improvements to the company's overall tax position and assisting with special projects as needed
Treasury Operations
Manage processes related to cash and investments, debt, and treasury with oversight of debt and treasury compliance processes aligned with internal policies
Make recommendations to management on various treasury related decisions and escalate treasury matters for attention of management
Facilitate any treasury related system implementation, new bank relationship initiations, and other activities to leverage efficiencies in treasury and accounts payable activities
Manage and lead Accounts Payable Analyst(s)
Ensure accuracy of vendor invoices and that they have been recorded in the accounting system with appropriate consideration of accounting treatment
Generate batch payments to vendors on a routine schedule and ensure timely payment of accounts payable in accordance with payment terms
Manage the corporate credit card program and banking relationship
Build and maintain working relationships with external vendors and ensure all vendor documentation is retained and proper internal controls related to vendors are utilized
Manage billing inquiries, such as payment methods and payment remittances
Assist with monthly financial reporting and provide analytical support for all treasury related activities
Participate in risk management activities with insurance broker and internal stakeholders
Skills and Abilities
Success in this role typically requires the following competencies:
Technical expertise in tax accounting matters, demonstrated by a minimum of 5+ years of relevant tax experience preparing and reviewing US GAAP income tax provisions
Provides guidance in the use of appropriate treasury principles and practices
Motivates, coaches, and encourages collaboration within the team
Independently determines high impact actions to achieve outcomes
Ensures business outcomes associated with work efforts
Demonstrated focus on continuous improvement with regards to processes, planning and execution of activities
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates most successful in this role typically hold the following qualifications or comparable knowledge or experience:
Required
Minimum 5 years of general tax and/or accounting experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or equivalent experience
Certified Public Accountant license (CPA)
Experience with managing a team
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Exceptional problem-solving, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills skills
Strong working knowledge of Excel
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to diplomatically approach team members to discuss sensitive financial matters
Ability to use professional judgment to escalate matters when necessary
Flexibility and ability to display sound judgment while operating in a fast-paced environment
Desirable
Experience using Netsuite ERP
Experience with legal entity structure analysis
Certified Treasury Professional (CTP)
Experience with entities involved in active fundraising activities
Physical Requirements
Standard office working conditions which includes but is not limited to:
Prolonged sitting
Prolonged standing
Prolonged computer use
Travel required? - Minimal: 1%-10%
Salary Range$95,000—$125,000 USD
