ENS Labs
Ethereum Name Service (ENS) is a decentralized, permissionless naming system built on the Ethereum blockchain that enables human-readable names (like "myname.eth") to be linked to standard Ethereum addresses and other distributed systems.
As one of the first protocols built on Ethereum, ENS has enabled over 3 million registered .eth names, and over another 20 million ENS names from teams such as Coinbase, Uniswap, and Linea, as well as integrations with hundreds of other apps, wallets, protocols, and browsers in the crypto ecosystem.
ENS Labs has been driving the core development of the ENS protocol since 2018. We created the ENS app, open-source libraries, and core smart contracts. We are on a mission to make crypto-powered experiences as easy and accessible as browsing the web. Join us as we build the next iteration of our protocol, ENSv2, and pioneer a more decentralized, flexible, and scalable ENS for the future.
We are seeking a highly skilled ZK Engineer to join our team and help integrate Zero-Knowledge proofs into ENS protocol to enhance its security, scalability, and privacy features.

About the Role
The ZK Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing Zero-Knowledge proof solutions within the ENS ecosystem. This includes working on privacy-preserving features, transaction verification, and scalability solutions that will enable ENS to meet the growing demands of the Web3 community. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ZK technology into ENS’s existing and future infrastructure, ensuring that new features align with decentralized principles and privacy concerns.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cryptographic protocols, particularly Zero-Knowledge proofs, and how they can be applied to blockchain ecosystems. Experience in Ethereum, zk-SNARKs, zk-STARKs, or similar ZK protocols is a significant plus.

What You'll Do

Design, implement, and optimize Zero-Knowledge proof systems (such as zk-SNARKs or zk-STARKs) to improve the privacy, scalability, and performance of the ENS platform.

Collaborate with the product and engineering teams to develop privacy-preserving features for ENS users, ensuring that sensitive data is protected while maintaining decentralization.

Work closely with Ethereum and blockchain engineers to integrate ZK solutions with existing Ethereum smart contracts, layer-2 protocols, and other decentralized systems.

Implement Zero-Knowledge scalability solutions to optimize ENS performance, ensuring security and integrity through testing and auditing cryptographic proofs and smart contracts.

Work closely with other engineers to ensure seamless integration of ZK features across the ENS platform.

Contribute to the ENS community and the broader Ethereum ecosystem by sharing knowledge about ZK technologies, best practices, and new developments in privacy and scalability solutions.

Who You Are

3+ years of experience with Zero-Knowledge proofs or cryptographic tech in blockchain or distributed systems.

Proficient in ZK protocols and privacy-enhancing cryptographic techniques.

Hands-on experience with Ethereum smart contracts, Layer-2 solutions, and blockchain tech.

Strong understanding of Ethereum, DeFi, and Web3 ecosystems.

Excellent problem-solving skills, applying ZK to privacy, scalability, and security challenges.

Experience designing and implementing cryptographic solutions in decentralized systems.

Strong communication skills, able to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

It’s a Plus, If You Have

Familiarity with Ethereum Layer-2 protocols (e.g., Optimistic Rollups, zk-Rollups) and their interaction with Zero-Knowledge proofs.

Experience with formal verification of cryptographic protocols or smart contracts.

Contributions to open-source cryptographic projects or publications in cryptography and blockchain.
